| OVERVIEW
>>
Arrupe Jesuit High School was founded in 2003
by the Missouri Proivnce of the Society of Jesus, more commonly
known as the Jesuits, to serve the economically disadvantaged,
racially and culturally diverse youth of Denver's central
city neighborhoods and to enhance the human, intellectual,
and spiritual capacities of the families it serves while respecting
and promoting cultural diversity. Arrupe takes its name from
Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J., a Spanish Jesuit who served as the
order's Superior General. The school opened its doors in 2003
to a freshman class. By fall, 2006, the school will be full
constituted with four classes. Arrupe is the 47th Jesuit high
school in the United States and the 5th Cristo Rey model school.
