OVERVIEW>>
St.
Martin de Porres High School became the second Cristo Rey
model in Greater Chicago when it was founded in 2004 (the
first is Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago). Sponsorship
of the school is shared by five Catholic religious communities:
Clerics of St. Viator, often referred to as Viatorians; the
Congregation of the Resurrection, often referred to as Resurrectionists;
Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus; The Sinsinawa Dominicans;
and The Church of St. Mary. These five orders work together
to provide high-quality Catholic Preparatory education to
young people from Lake County, IL, which is located north
of Chicago, who might not otherwise be able to afford private
education. The school opened its doors to freshman and sophomore
students in 2004 and will be fully constituted by fall, 2006.
