Chief Strategy Officer
Phil Coughlin has served over thirty years in the logistics industry. His career began early as he worked his way up to management through several branch import positions at The Harper Group. Phil joined Expeditors in 1985 for the opportunity to grow a strong logistics business with close friends and business partners.
Phil began as an Air Breakbulk Manager in the Chicago office. Shortly after, he was asked to move to Boston to take on the role of District Manager. His strong leadership skills and a focus on employee development and mentoring were the catalyst for his transition to Regional

Prior to his current position, Phil served as the President of Global Geographies and Operations, responsible for driving uniformity and consistency across Expeditors’ global operations. He was also tasked with strategic alignment of each geographic region. Phil has recently been appointed as the Chief Strategy Officer. In his new role, Phil will establish and oversee a core Strategy Group to drive strategic innovation.
In addition to the vast amount of logistical expertise that Phil has gained over the last thirty years, he also earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School. Phil is based at Expeditors corporate headquarters in Seattle. He enjoys reading and is actively involved in various sports with his children.
