Jane E. Genster

Jane E. Genster has served as Board Chair since July 2023. She previously served as the Network's President and CEO from November 2014 to June 2017. Under her executive leadership, the Network opened six new schools, strengthened the reach and effectiveness of its national staff, expanded programmatic support for and collaboration with its member schools, spawned catalytic philanthropic partnerships, and adopted comprehensive strategic and communication plans.

Prior to her appointment to lead the Cristo Rey Network, Ms. Genster served for more than 14 years on the senior leadership team of Georgetown University, first for nearly a decade as the University's Vice President and General Counsel and later as Senior Counselor to the President. She previously held positions as counselor to Williams & Connolly LLP, associate counsel for The Washington Post, and Washington counsel for NBC. She has long been a champion of faith-based education and an advocate for the expansion of educational opportunities for economically-disadvantaged students. Actively involved in the governance of Catholic, Episcopal and independent schools in Washington, D.C. for four decades, she currently serves as vice-chair of the governing board of Washington Jesuit Academy.

Ms. Genster earned her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her law degree from the University of Virginia. She is the mother of four and the grandmother of seven.
