Cristo Rey Network Launches Project Waitlist with First Cohort of Grantees
Jessie Fenton

The Cristo Rey Network recently launched Project Waitlist, a dynamic, multi-year initiative to ensure Cristo Rey schools are equipped with the critical resources to implement data-driven student recruitment strategies. Funded by The Howley Foundation, Project Waitlist is awarding selected schools two-year grants to build personnel capacity, implement proven technology platforms, and expand strategic marketing initiatives to achieve their data and mission-driven enrollment goals during the grant period and beyond.

Through a competitive grant application process, seven Cristo Rey schools have been selected to participate in the inaugural cohort of Project Waitlist:

A Cristo Rey Network Annual Data Report analysis reinforces a consistent correlation between schools that reach full enrollment capacity and their achievement in meeting CRN Key Performance Indicators. Cristo Rey schools with greater than 350 students demonstrate higher four-year student retention, an increased percentage of seniors meeting college readiness measures, and a higher percentage of students who agree or strongly agree that they belong at their school. Furthermore, schools with sustainable enrollment are more financially efficient, benefiting from economies of scale, and driving organizational momentum towards increased CWS job sales and ongoing strong student enrollment.

The Cristo Rey Network national office is providing management, support, and accountability to ensure the long-term impact of Project Waitlist. A working group, comprised of nine leaders from high-performing Cristo Rey schools, has been established to help educate and influence practices that achieve goals locally and nationally. Furthermore, the national office Growth Team is delivering ongoing Network-wide and school-based professional development offerings to propel transformational recruitment plans now and into the future.
