A Communication to Cristo Rey Network Friends and Family | June 2022 |
Today I'm traveling to Oakland, CA to celebrate the last of our three schools commemorating their very first graduating class this spring. As I mentioned last month, Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School (Oakland), Cristo Rey Fort Worth College Prep, and Cristo Rey OKC Catholic High School now each enjoy the exciting milestone shared by schools each spring. I'm pleased to present to you our annual graduation cameo of photos capturing the joy and hope of our Class of 2022, graduates' proud families, and their school communities that persevered through the past two years with grace and grit. |
Please join us in praying for these talented young people who will embark on their journeys to college and then careers. May they remain steadfast in their pursuit to achieve their fullest potential and lead lives of faith, purpose, and service. Cristo Rey blessings, |

With joy and humility, we express our deepest gratitude to our donors for their partnership in our movement! This fiscal year, investors collectively gifted nearly $11 million to scale high-impact, catalyzing programming across our schools, award competitive school grants, and administer college scholarships to our graduates. Today, we are pleased to explain three recent gifts: |
A $1,320,000 grant from the Deloitte Foundation is providing critical college scholarship funds to graduating seniors in the Class of 2022. Each of the 33 of 38 Cristo Rey schools with a senior class received $40,000 to assist Class of 2022 graduates who intend to pursue one of 11 eligible majors. |

With a $2 million investment from The Howley Foundation, we are launching a Network-wide literacy initiative to accelerate student achievement in English Language Arts. Accelerating Literacy Across the Curriculum will engage ThinkCERCA, a nationally recognized service provider, to offer professional development and coaching to teachers to prepare students for success in college courses. |
The Howley Foundation has expanded its investment in our Network-wide math initiative, Putting MATH Education to Work, to engage more Cristo Rey schools committed to transforming mathematics from gatekeeper to gateway. Since 2018, 27 Cristo Rey schools have committed to this multi-year engagement for robust professional development provided by the Silicon Valley Math Initiative (SVMI) to develop instructional capacity and support for math teachers and principals. |
As we prepare for the close of our fiscal year on June 30, join our Honor Roll of Donors by supporting the achievements and dreams of our students. |
