A Communication to Cristo Rey Network Friends and Family | May 2023 |

Today is National College Decision Day! Dear Friends, Today, we celebrate the Class of 2023 as we eagerly await their final college commitments. A phenomenal $1,750,000 grant from the Deloitte Foundation will provide college scholarship funds to several graduating seniors from every Cristo Rey school with a 2023 graduating class. This grant, the third award made by the Foundation, will be administered and managed by the Cristo Rey Network national office, allocating $50,000 to each of the 35 of 38 Cristo Rey schools with a senior class. Schools will award the funds to selected Class of 2023 graduates intending to pursue one of 13 eligible majors at a postsecondary institution. In June 2022, 91% of the Class of 2022 had committed to enroll in college, with 78% of the class committed to four-year institutions. For the 2,700 Cristo Rey seniors in the Class of 2023, we anticipate similarly high commitment and enrollment rates. In San Francisco, senior Giselle made history as the first ICA Cristo Rey Academy graduate admitted to Yale University. Just thirty minutes away, Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School seniors Michelle and Silvana marked the school's first acceptances to Stanford University, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania. We celebrate these students and all Cristo Rey seniors, their college counselors, and students' families, as seniors make their college commitments today! |

2023 Annual Meeting | Recap |
More than 340 Cristo Rey Network school leaders gathered last week for an impactful Annual Meeting in Philadelphia! Our host school, Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, partnered with the national office team to plan for a week of learning and dialogue among school leaders, religious sponsors, and board members. Working in both job-alike cohorts and cross-cohort groupings, focus areas included student recruitment, staff talent recruitment and retention, development planning, honing of sales strategies, inclusive Catholic school communities, and conditions for continuous improvement in schools. Collaboration and community remain at the heart of our efforts to deliver on our promise to the young people whom we accompany on their educational journey. |
