Jane E. Genster

Jane E. Genster was newly elected as Board Chair. She previously served as President and CEO of the Cristo Rey Network from November 2014 to June 2017 and as Vice-chair of the Board of Directors. Under her leadership, the Network opened six new schools, strengthened the reach and effectiveness of its national staff, expanded programmatic support for and collaboration with its member schools, spawned catalytic philanthropic partnerships, and adopted comprehensive strategic and communication plans.

Prior to her appointment at the Cristo Rey Network, Ms. Genster served for more than 14 years on the senior leadership team at Georgetown University, first as the University's Vice President and General Counsel and later as Senior Counselor to the President. She previously held positions as counsel to the law firm Williams & Connolly LLP, associate counsel for The Washington Post, and Washington counsel for NBC. She has long been a champion of faith-based education and an advocate for expanding educational opportunities for economically-disadvantaged students. She has been actively involved in the governance of independent and Catholic schools and community organizations for more than three decades. In addition to the Cristo Rey Network Board, she currently serves on the governing boards of Washington Jesuit Academy and Beauvoir School in Washington, DC.

Ms. Genster received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her law degree from the University of Virginia.
