Tom O’Connor brings more than 30 years of business and philanthropic experience to Cristo Rey.

After launching his career at Smith, Barney & Co., Inc., he began a 15-year tenure at Bear Stearns & Co., where he became General Partner and Manager of the Public Finance Department. Mr. O’Connor then started Gabelli-O’Connor Fixed Income Management and served as the firm’s Managing General Partner that oversaw more than $3 billion in assets. In addition to the Cristo Rey Network, he has held a wide range of leadership positions in several philanthropic endeavors, including Fordham Preparatory School, Cornell University, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center.

Educated in grade school by the Dominicans of his local New York area parishes and by the Jesuits at Fordham Preparatory School, Mr. O’Connor values inner-city secondary Catholic education and has been a generous benefactor to organizations committed to this work. He graduated with honors in economics from Cornell University.
