July 19, 2023 – CHICAGO – The Cristo Rey Network Board of Directors recently approved three new members, effective July 1, 2023: Dave Mason, President and CEO of San Miguel High School in Tucson, AZ; alumnae Maj. Mary Lea Bordelon, Philippines Country Director at Secretary of the United States Air Force, International Affairs, Washington, D.C.; and Rosemarie Thurston, Partner at Alston & Bird, with the Financial Services & Products Group, Atlanta, GA.
Dave Mason is the President and CEO of San Miguel High School in Tucson, AZ. In 2008, David started his career within the Cristo Rey Network as a teacher, then Principal of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Minneapolis, MN. Mason’s professional experience includes Director of School Support for the Cristo Rey Network national office, as well as teaching and administrative positions at Mountlake Terrace High School, Edmonds, WA, and at Catalina Foothills High School, Tucson, AZ. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Western Washington University and a Master of Arts in Medieval History from Durham University, England. Read more.
Maj. Mary Lea Bordelon is a graduate of De La Salle North Catholic High School ‘05 in Portland and a member of the Cultural Committee for the Cristo Rey Network National Alumni Association’s National Leadership Council. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Portland ‘09 as well as a Master’s Degree in International Relations from American Military University ‘18. As the current Philippines Country Director at Secretary of the United States Air Force, International Affairs, she helps manage international affairs between the U.S. and the Philippine Islands. Rosemarie Thurston is a Partner with the Financial Services & Products Group at Alston & Bird, leads Alston & Bird’s REITs & Real Estate Funds Team, and is a former Chair of the firm’s Management Committee. As a recipient of many esteemed awards in her industry, Rosemarie is recognized in the REITs category by Chambers USA and Chambers Global and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America© for Securities/Capital Markets Law. In addition to these new appointments, Jane E. Genster has taken the helm as Board Chair. During her first term serving on the Cristo Rey Network Board, Jane was named President and CEO of the Cristo Rey Network serving from November 2014 to June 2017. Prior to her appointment at the Cristo Rey Network, Ms. Genster served for more than 14 years on the senior leadership team at Georgetown University, first as the University's Vice President and General Counsel and later as Senior Counselor to the President. Outgoing Board Chair John O’Shea will continue his leadership service as a Board member.
