It is with deep sorrow that I inform you of the passing of Fr. Bradley Schaeffer, SJ, a cornerstone in the establishment of Cristo Rey. For those who had the privilege to know him, the loss is profound. And for those yet to discover his remarkable contributions, I encourage you to watch this enlightening video from our 2022 Annual Meeting, where Fr. Schaeffer shares the captivating origin story of Cristo Rey:

Fr. Schaeffer often shared a humorous anecdote from his mother, jesting that he never received adequate recognition for his role in founding Cristo Rey. As we remember him, let’s ensure his legacy endures and continues to inspire us. 

On this Good Friday, I ask you to keep Fr. Schaeffer in your prayers, reflecting on the indelible mark he has left on our mission. 

Lord, we commend Fr. Bradley Schaeffer, SJ to Your eternal embrace, grateful for his life and the monumental impact he had, particularly on Cristo Rey. As we grieve, bring us comfort, and may his legacy fuel our continued commitment to serve with love. Rest in peace, Fr. Schaeffer.
