The Cristo Rey Network announced the appointment of four new members to the national office Board of Directors

June 20, 2019 (CHICAGO) – The Cristo Rey Network announced the appointment of four new members to the national office Board of Directors: Sr. Jeanne Bessette, Chris Perry, Deadra Stokes, and Jose Ubeda.

With the addition of these new members, the Board is now comprised of 26 prominent leaders from business, education, religious, and other professional sectors.

"We are pleased to welcome Sr. Jeanne, Chris, Deadra, and Jose to the Cristo Rey national Board of Directors," said Cristo Rey Network President and CEO Elizabeth Goettl. "We are grateful to each for dedicating their time and talents to advancing our shared mission."

Sr. Jeanne Bessette is the founding president of DePaul Cristo Rey High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Under her leadership, the school has undertaken a successful $24.2 million capital campaign, and is currently adding buildings to its campus. Prior to her term as president, she served in an elected leadership position with Joliet Franciscan Sisters for eight years and has served on over a dozen nonprofit boards at local and national levels.

Chris Perry is an active investor in the business services industry and shares overall strategic and operating responsibility for CIVC Partners.Chris has a longstanding commitment to Cristo Rey, having previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Cristo Rey Jesuit in Chicago, and more recently, completing his tenure as Board Chair of Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep in Waukegan.

Deadra Stokes is the Managing Partner for Consumer Legal Group in Chicago. Deadra has served as a board member and officer for various nonprofit organizations including United Way Southwest, RESPOND Now, JASSAC Foundation, South Suburban Chicago Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated and South Suburban PADS.

Jose Ubeda is the Senior Vice President of Global Air for Expeditors International, one of the largest Cristo Rey Network Corporate Partners, employing 44 students across 16 Cristo Rey schools.Jose leads the Opportunity Knocks program at Expeditors, which offers paid internships for youth to increase confidence, skills, and job readiness with potential for long-term careers. Jose also serves on the Puget Sound Board of Directors at Year Up.
