Forty Cristo Rey school leaders representing seven schools gathered in Chicago for the Notre Dame Executive Leadership Program in June. Designed and delivered by University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business, Stayer Center for Executive Education, in collaboration with the Cristo Rey Network, the program requires participating schools to commit to engagement in a two-summer sequence of learning. The first week of sessions recently concluded focused on values-based leadership, developing a strategic mindset, marketing and branding, financial decision making, and immunity to change.
Participating schools include:
Cristo Rey Baton Rouge High School
De La Salle North Catholic High School (Portland)
DePaul Cristo Rey High School (Cincinnati)
Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School (Lawrence)
Saint Martin de Porres High School (Cleveland)
Cristo Rey Richmond High School
Cristo Rey Oklahoma City Catholic High School
Cristo Rey Network school leaders expressed the immediate impact of the Executive Leadership Development Program:
"...the best PD I've attended in 10 years!"
Sr. Jeanne Bessette, DePaul Cristo Rey President
"Great experience for my brand new team to come together in a shared learning program and collaborate on a project. Time spent team building was invaluable."
Peter J. McCourt, Cristo Rey Richmond President
"The Executive Leadership Program was an incredible experience. To have five days to step back from all of our day-to-day interactions with our leadership team and to refocus, through thoughtful, informative presentations and structured reflection time, on WHO we are in mission FOR and WHY we do what we do in a Cristo Rey school was a gift!"
Sr. Maryalyce Gilfeather, Notre Dame Cristo Rey President
Each school team will spend the school year ahead implementing anaction learning project to change one prioritized outcome at their school. Ongoing support will be provided by executive education professors and the Cristo Rey Network national office. The Cristo Rey Network is profoundly grateful for the generosity of Network investors and the Mendoza College of Business for supporting the execution of this new program, which will be offered to a second cohort of Cristo Rey schools in the summers of 2020 and 2021.
