Cristo Rey prepared me for a life of service: A conversation with Kay Angrum

Kay Angrum, Cristo Rey New York alumna, had a knack for broadcasting at an early age. While she was a student at Cristo Rey, she worked with MultiVu, the multimedia and broadcast services division of PR Newswire. She is now hosting a show on NBC 4 New York's Instagram.

"It's been said that journalism isn't just a career choice — it's a public service. Cristo Rey prepared me for a life of service by challenging us to be guided by the spirit of care of the individual."

Kay is now the host of "Listen Up", a made-for-Instagram daily mini-cast designed to give a mobile-first audience all the news, weather, entertainment, and information they need in less than 2 minutes. "The Corporate Work Study Program left a lasting impact on my life. MultiVu was my first introduction to the media industry."

Kay graduated from University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Digital Journalism in 2016. Today, she is back in New York where it all began.

"Cristo Rey is where I made lifelong friendships, learned how to navigate corporate culture, and started to blossom into the young professional I am today. My Cristo Rey experience instilled in me the importance of fearlessness, fortitude, and faith."
