Cristo Rey Network leadership, President and CEO Elizabeth Goettl, and Chair Emeritus and Chief Mission Officer John P. Foley, SJ, invite support to provide crucial financial resources for our schools as they navigate the challenges of the months ahead.
This turbulent time has brought forth a new meaning to "the power of a network." In response to school closures initiated by the pandemic, the Cristo Rey Network national office and school leaders immediately leapt to action, developing remote instruction and learning tools to seamlessly continue students' college preparatory education and Corporate Work Study participation from home.
We are blessed by a community of friends and partners like you who have recently inquired how they might support our mission now. Virtual learning has revealed both successes and challenges for our school communities. While our schools were some of the first in the nation to pivot towards quality remote learning, many Cristo Rey students are experiencing unreliable access to internet service. Over 7,000 Cristo Rey alumni have been displaced from their college campuses. Our school communities are increasingly concerned for families' financial wellbeing, with some students needing to find jobs to supplement family income, thus threatening their ability to continue their college preparatory learning.
As we prepare for the next school year, we know that the needs of Cristo Rey Network schools are now greater than anticipated. We wish to keep you engaged and updated on our support for our schools, as they anticipate loss of some Corporate Work Study Program student jobs and an increased need for resources to support school operations.
We need you more than ever as we navigate through this uncertain time, to ensure that our schools and our students continue to flourish. We ask you at this time to help us to invest in the future of our communities all across America and the futures of the young people we serve today, our leaders of tomorrow.
We humbly request your support for the newly launched COVID-19 School Stability Fund, which will provide crucial financial resources for Cristo Rey schools as they navigate the challenges of the months ahead. 100% of funds will be directed to vital needs at our schools.
The national office remains unwavering in our commitment to our schools and our audacious Cristo Rey mission. We have faith that with your support we can collectively navigate and thrive through this period of change.
Yours in Cristo Rey,
President and CEO
