Thank you to our generous community of supporters who are helping to ensure our students' ability to complete college.

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak and its potential impact on alumni due to college dorm closures and/or cancellation of classes, the Cristo Rey Network raised $250,000 for a new Alumni Emergency Assistance Fund to help ensure the success of our college enrollees experiencing financial hardship as colleges and universities change operations.

In March, hundreds of American colleges and universities cancelled some or all face-to-face classes due to precautionary measures related to COVID-19. Dorm closures are an important step in reducing potential pathways for community spread of COVID-19, but also present a disruption in students' learning, ability to work, and ultimately, likelihood to complete college. With 7,029 Cristo Rey graduates currently enrolled in college, our Cristo Rey Network school Alumni Advisors are actively supporting those impacted by changes in college campus operations to develop a plan to address emergency circumstances.

The Cristo Rey Network Alumni Emergency Assistance Fund is intended for our schools to alleviate expenses directly related to changes in colleges campus operations, such as:

  • dorm / residence hall closures
  • cancellation of face-to-face instruction and introduction of off-campus, virtual online learning
  • cancellation of all classes through the end of the semester

100% of funds will go directly to our graduates enrolled in college and will provide resources to meet specific alumni needs, including but not limited to:

  • transportation to get home and back to campus upon re-opening
  • technology needs to transition to online instruction
  • access to temporary housing accommodations

We commit to carefully track relevant contact information for each alum, along with the nature of each request, so that we may provide our generous donors an update on the dissemination of funds.

Our mission is to lift young people out of poverty by providing access to a Catholic, college-preparatory education that leads to college enrollment and completion. Thank you to our generous community of supporters who are helping to ensure our students' ability to complete college.
