In our Full Circle Series, we highlight Cristo Rey graduates currently employed for their former Corporate Work Study partners.
In 2008, Lianne Figueroa didn't think she'd meet her future employer as a 14-year-old at Cristo Rey New York. Today, Lianne serves as the Legal Recruiting and Diversity Assistant for the law firm Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel, the same company she was employed by for all four years of high school.
"Working at the same Corporate Partner for four years allowed me to experience longevity and build trust among my supervisors, which later helped me in securing a full-time position post-grad."
Lianne graduated from SUNY Binghamton in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, politics, and law. Upon graduation, she learned of an opportunity with Kramer Levin, and officially joined their team in the human resources department. In her current role, Lianne manages the attorney interview process and recruits for the firm's 10-week summer program.
"I remember after each school year ended at Cristo Rey, I always hoped I would get matched with the firm again. I kept in touch with my supervisor, even when I went to college."
Lianne is also pursuing a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. She hopes to one day become licensed and work at a private practice.
"My experience at Cristo Rey and the Corporate Work Study Program has also allowed me to develop a level of confidence and determination to demonstrate excellent work ethic wherever I go."
Her advice to current Cristo Rey students: "Remain professional at all times. Cristo Rey taught me the value of maintaining my brand. I didn't know what that meant as a 14-year-old, but now that I look back, I realize how much it helped me get to where I am today."
