Today, I'm thrilled to announce the opening of Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School.

Dear Friends of Cristo Rey,

This month, we celebrate our schools opening their doors for in-person learning, some for the first time in over a year, and one for the very first time. Today, I'm thrilled to announce the opening of Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School, which is located in the historic American Tobacco Factory complex in downtown Durham. Cristo Rey Research Triangle marks the 38th Cristo Rey school, expanding our movement into 24 states nationwide.

As data and headlines reflect, Catholic schools' pandemic enrollment plunge is at an all-time record high - the largest in the past five decades. We are reminded that by the grace of God, our school communities have remained resilient, innovative, and strong. Our movement continues to grow, impacting our students and graduates, their families, and future generations.

As we look ahead to the future for this year's freshman class, we've highlighted the many accomplishments from former students. Our collective 23,100 Cristo Rey alumni continue to demonstrate their devotion to our mission and their efforts to pay it forward for future Cristo Rey students.

Congratulations to all Cristo Rey schools as they embark on another impactful school year!

Cristo Rey blessings,

Elizabeth Goettl
President and CEO

Photos: Cristo Rey Research Triangle High School recently welcomed 72 freshmen to campus for two weeks of summer programming filled with English Language Arts and Math refreshers, CWSP training, Brain Games by YouScience, and a visit from Cristo Rey celebrity, Kala Juett. Each student received a Chromebook and practiced introductions to fellow students and teachers to prepare for their first day of academic learning. At the end of the month, an exciting inaugural Draft Day for Corporate Partners at the famous Durham Bulls Athletic Park will take place.
